EAST AVE. CLOSES FOR RAILROAD WORK
East Ave. between 10th St. and Cornell St. will be closed beginning Monday, August 2, 2010 for railroad improvements. The road is expected to be closed for approximately four weeks.

BUSINESS TRAINING PROGRAM FOCUSES ON KEYS TO SUCCESS
A 12 week business training course, focusing on essential information local entrepreneurs need to know to be successful, will get underway August 17, 2010 in North Sarasota. Known as the Community Opportunity Entrepreneur (CEO) business training program, the course concentrates on the ins and outs of local business success. The sessions will be held every Tuesday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newtown Selby Goodwill, 1781 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The course is free and open to entrepreneurs considering launching a small business as well as those who are already in business.

TEEN SUMMIT KICKS OFF
Teens and parents throughout the greater Tampa Bay region will kick off the 3rd Annual Greatness Beyond Measure Teen Summit, Friday, July 30, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ringling College of Art & Design with youth oriented fun and festivities. The three day event is open to youngsters 12 to 19-years-old. There is a $5 registration fee. Sarasota’s own Chris Eisenberg, a top 50 finalist on the popular television program “America’s Got Talent”, will help kick off the summit Friday night at Ulla Searing Exhibition Hall.

CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT
The public is invited to provide comments and suggestions for possible revisions to the City of Sarasota Charter during a Charter Review Committee meeting Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1565 First Street. The ten member panel, appointed by the City Commission, has the authority to review the entire City of Sarasota Charter and recommend additions, deletions or modifications.

CONSTRUCTION FENCE TEMPORARILY REMOVED
In preparation for potentially high winds associated with Tropical Storm Bonnie, the fence surrounding the Five Points roundabout construction project in downtown has been temporarily removed. Pedestrians and motorists should not enter the construction area and use caution in the vicinity. The fence, which is weighted down with sandbags and could topple in strong winds, will be erected once again Monday, July 26.
